Egmond aan Zee is a lovely seaside resort on the North Sea coast. I was there for a short (working) holiday. I wrote and walked more than I painted, but I did start this painting. Back home while finishing it, suddenly a link with the scandal of the Olympic Games urged itself on me.
When you look in the direction of sunset it does special things to your perceptions. And believe it or not, when I finally included those people, about 80 meters away from my hotel room, to the painting I saw the differences between men and women being amplified.
And now women, especially female athletes, ask not only other women but men too, to start making that X-sign (hashtag #xx). So after already having painted my signatureI I decided to make the tire tracks in the sand ‘my’ X-mark.
Gaslighting on steroids
If that Algerian boxer who won a women’s medal were a woman, she would have been sitting in an Amazonian position on her trainer’s shoulder. But this display was much clearer, much more pure gaslighting. Before the match starts, he manipulates his manhood in a definitely not subtle way.
I call it gaslighting on steroids: yes we are cheating, yes we are very much into misogyny and everybody is allowed to see us cheating and hating.
The clip I include above went viral at X.com. Search at DuckDuckgo or Google for “a woman would never make this move” and DuckDuckgo.com returns zero results and Google a very small number.
By the way: Facebook blocked the hashtag #XX …
P.S.: Please try to inform yourself about the meaning of the concept ‘Rabbit Punch‘.
