A good first impression of the book’s content can be found in the table of contents below, but even a careful study of it does not draw enough attention to the aspect of misogyny.
Boundless hatred of women
To correct for this possible underestimation, I first give three passages from the book: one on Christianity and two on Mohammedanism.
From the Introduction of Part II (p 55):
The most problematic aspect of the Quran and Mohammedanism is the fact that these three themes are interlinked: slavery, misogyny and holy war.
From the section Constantine the Evil & Thomas the Repulsive (p 261):
If a modern-day person were to claim the things that Thomas Aquinas claimed back then, I would refer to this person as a piece of human garbage. I would find it difficult to choose whether my disgust for Constantine is greater or less than for Aquinas. Aquinas is in favour of killing those who think differently, whom he calls heretics. As far as he is concerned, slavery is part of some ‘original sin’. He refers to women as ‘passive vessels’. The [Quranic] field verse (see Chapter 3 in Part II) hardly compares negatively. This Thomas contributed to the fact that until the 20th century, women had to stay away from the Catholic Church longer after giving birth to a daughter than after giving birth to a son.
I’ll just let the decision of who was the more disgusting of the two [Emperor Constantine and Thomas Aquinas] pass me by. I don’t refer to either of these as human garbage. I wrote it before: I prefer to place these men in their time. Humanity is making progress.
From the section Mohammedan revivals: lowering marriageable age for girls (p 275)
For those who harbour some distrust of the teachings of Mohammed, another constant [Other than the quantity of veils and their strictness] stands out: the choice to make lowering the marriageable age for girls a priority. That spearhead is not directly derived from the Quran–although sex with prepubescent girls is indeed casually approved in it–albeit only for the exemplary behaviour of Mohammed. I remind you of what I wrote in chapter 3 in the section Reap what you have sown about Sura 65 [99], especially the fact that this sura is not addressed to Muhammad’s followers but only to Muhammad himself!
